Project Overview

The Problem

Sending flowers to someone you love abroad can be a challenging and frustrating experience for many people, such as difficulty finding a suitable local florist, language barriers, and limited payment options... and more.

The Goal

Create a platform that provides a simple order process, connecting users with local florists worldwide to send fresh flowers to their loved ones.

Role

UX designer designing a responsive website for Flossom+ from conception to delivery.

Project Duration

November 2021 to December 2021

Understanding The User

I asked questions like…

  1. Their decision-making process for finding an online flower-ordering platform

  2. Their experience with sending flowers to someone in a different country

  3. Features that are most helpful when using an online flower-ordering platform

  4. Their biggest frustrations encountered while using online flower-ordering platforms

User Research

First, I conducted user interviews with 5 participants to gain more insights.

User Pain Points

1. Importance of reviews

Users rely on reading reviews before making a purchase.

2. Concerns about quality

Users worry about product-photo discrepancies.

3. Challenges with ordering abroad

Due to limited language and payment options, ordering flowers aboard can be difficult.

4. Preview delivery cost

Users want to view the cost while choosing the delivery date.

Takeaways

Impact

After conducting several tests, users reported that this website helped them save a lot of time in selecting and browsing florists. The site is user-friendly, the overall flow is straightforward, and the payment and delivery processes are simple.

What I learned

I have learned that even minor revisions can have a significant impact on the overall user experience of a product. My most important takeaway is that users' needs should always be the top priority before coming up with any ideas and solutions.

Next Steps

1. Testing and modification

Conduct follow-up usability testing on the updated website and make any necessary modifications.

2. Ideation and modification

Identify any additional areas of need and ideate new features and functions to enhance the user experience.
